Guernsey has produced four stamps comprising Bluebell Woods (42 pence stamp), a secluded woodland area situated at the southern end of Guernsey’s capital St Peter Port.
Guernsey boasts some of the best beaches in the British Isles and there are over twenty-five beautiful bays, ranging from picturesque and pebbled to long, flat and sandy expanses. Petit Port Bay in St Martins (56p) offers the fantastic reward of southerly sunshine, soft sand and breathtaking scenery.
In Guernsey there can be no more spectacular display of autumn colours than in the island’s Saumarez Park (62p). The largest on the island, the park houses a range of exotic gardens, including a bamboo walk, a Japanese garden and a camellia lawn along with a picturesque rose garden and a walled garden.
Winter in the bailiwick is far from bleak; waves crashing against the coastline are a truly remarkable sight. At the end of the castle breakwater is one of Guernsey’s lighthouses, St Peter Port harbour lighthouse (68p).
Guernsey Post’s acting head of philatelic Bridget Yabsley said: - “The seasons are very distinct and evoke different memories – perhaps a blustery walk on the beach in winter, or a stroll through a stunning woodland on a crisp Autumn day.
“We’re very proud to be able to showcase the bailiwick’s beauty across four stamps, each depicting something quite different to reflect the changing seasons.”
